Hello. I am a new member of the Zora’s House Community. I am an attorney and the Interim Assistant Director of NAMI Franklin County.

In February 2006, I literally started over with two children, two months of outstanding mortgage payments, an empty refrigerator, and $120. The last 17 years have been transformative. I never learn lessons or do the work for my personal benefit. I have a responsibility to share what I learn with others. I use my personal story to share the lessons learned on my journey through life’s hard places. Storytelling is incredibly powerful and saves lives.

I write and speak about living with depression and suicidal thoughts, life as a solo mom, transformation, and resilience. My work primarily appears in national online publications like The Good Men Project and Medium. I look forward to building relationships in the Zora’s House Community.

Okay, so I saw no replies to messages I’ve put up but also saw no replies to others’ messages. So I’m going to try to go through and respond to as many people’s messages as possible. We’re not going to let these words fall to the ground! Let’s see how many I can do in 20 mins… 🙂

First, I love what you said about lessons not being just for your own benefit. I fully believe in that. I also love that you WRITE about your [what I call] stamina stories–as a writer myself, I know the power of that. Finally, the part about starting over with children reminds me of my best friend’s testimony. Walking with her over 20 years post-divorce has been one of the most empowering things I’ve seen…talk about blooming and learning to thrive! Just thanks, for sharing the way you did in your post. Have a good day!

Hi Johari. I apologize for the long delay in responding to your kind comments. I still feel like a newbie. I look forward to learning more about your journey and get to know others within the Zora’s House community.
