    RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

No “-ists”, “-isms”, or “-phobias.” As a member of Zora’s House, I will uphold a zero tolerance policy against discrimination, period. This includes, but is not limited to, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, etc.

Lift as I climb. I will come into Zora’s House with the understanding that there are enough blessings, opportunities, and resources to go around. I won’t just move forward; as often as I can, I will take someone with me.

Respect lived experience as knowledge. Knowledge doesn’t only come from books and classrooms; I will respect expertise that arises from individuals’ lives experiences.

Celebrate authenticity. I will strive to be authentic and to hold space for others to do the same.

Benefit of the doubt. I will assume goodwill and good intentions until proven otherwise.

Open myself up to care. Many of us are well practiced in caring for others but do not know how to let ourselves be cared for. I will challenge myself to allow love, support, and care from those around me.

Right to be human. We all have the right to be human (i.e. inconsistent, emotional, triggered, etc.) I will acknowledge emotions and practice forgiveness.

    Gossip free zone. Judgement free-zone.

I will exercising generosity of time, resources, energy, and spirit towards others.

Say yes. I will practice courage and saying yes to things outside of my comfort zone.

Say no. I will use this safe space to practice saying no, maintaining healthy boundaries, and being proactive with my self-care.
